First of all I would like to apologize for the misleading title of my post. Frankly speaking there are no secrets behind the listing of Dmoz; the biggest online web directory. But yes there are some difficulties in Dmoz listing because of huge webmaster’s request that it gets. But why webmasters around the world are going crazy over Dmoz listing? They must have some reason! What’s that?

Successful Dmoz listing requires that you should, not only read the Dmoz’s guidelines but also understand what they are actually trying you to understand!

Step One: Submitting links to normal web directory and Dmoz listing is not same. If you go alike at Dmoz, you will be penalized.
Appropriate Category selection: Choosing the right category for your Dmoz listing is the most key criteria. But finding the appropriate category and which is fruitful at the same time is not an easy task. Be specific about your selection. If you are to submit a "weight loss" website then be as appropriate that you can. Don't submit it to Business category.
Single Sentence Description: To be listed in Dmoz, it is very important to create a single line description only for Dmoz. Don't just copy and paste your meta description from view source.
Tight Title: Using long title in Dmoz listing is a suicidal step. Use a keyword rich (possibly main keyword or URL which is appropriate) steep title for Dmoz.
Less Competition Category: Submitting your website to a category which has many listing is not considered a clever step. You should be able to find a category which has less crowd as well as appropriate at the same time. Submitting your website to such category increases your chance of listing.

THanks, I've been trying to get on Dmoz for a whiile but was getting rejected for various reasons. I know how valuable Dmoz can be to seo, so I'll be trying again using your helpful tips.

January 5, 2013 at 1:48 AM has become a corrupt SEO club for those with the right connections and money. Look at, they are listed 91 times!!! I can't get my ski site listed once. This also makes their site uber ranked in Google search results. Money talks. Big money owns the internet. The little guy does not have a chance.

No matter how many times i have submitted my site to DMOZ but my site never get listed on DMOZ, i googled and tries verios services but didnot get any sucess. i tries fiverr, seoclerks and many other plateforms for this but finally i got a person who gurantee to list your site on DMOZ and i admit he is the best person on this planet if you want to list your
