So your website (s) was also hit by the recent Penguin update from Google! You are not alone!, Most of the webmasters who were using traditional link building methods for their off page SEO, got hit by this crucial algorithm update from Google on 24th April this year. Also the websites which were using blackhat techniques got severely slapped. And if you are hoping to get solution for your lost ranking issue then I must confess – you are absolutely right!
Before I tell you the effective link building strategy after Google Penguin, you must know why this algorithm change actually took place. The primary reason behind this update was to encounter the automated blackhat link building process. Also the quality of backlink was another major issue on which this update was processed.
I got Hit, what to Do??
Lets accept the fact that your website had some shady (unnatural) issue. In most chance your backlink profile seemed ‘unnatural’ to the eye of Google. And if you want to recover from Penguin, your need to repair that damage as much as you can. So how to go about it? Here are the ways –
‘Quality over quantity’ – you may have heard this phrase several times, including in this post also! But to what extent you have implemented, is the main concern. Definitely you need to implement it now after the Google penguin. But how?
As I stated before also, your backlink profile should look natural in the eye of Google. Keeping that in mind, you need to adopt only those link building methods which will not look spammy, and most importantly Google should not think that you are actually doing any link building for your website! Is it really feasible? Yes it is!
Google seems to give more importance to social backlink these days, specially after they them self launched Google plus. Now if you are smart enough, you should be able to understand the trend. Yes you need to build a strong social influence through facebook, twitter and others, if you haven’t done that already.
Look for unconventional link building techniques – advantage of these link building strategies is that Google may not ‘trace’ as artificial link building. One such strategy which you can look for is guest posting. Also while guest posting try to acquire in-content links, as author bio backlink may not be that effective as it is easily ‘traceable’ by Google bot.
Relevant blog commenting is another effective link building technique which has become more powerful after Google Penguin. While commenting try to avoid keyword in name field, as it looks artificial; hence easily detectable. To get the maximum benefit from blog commenting, you can insert your link within comment body whenever applicable; without defacing the primary essence.
Also do not ignore the traditional link building mechanism such as directory submission, social bookmarking etc. They are equally important as they were. But the main issue which you need to care about after the Google penguin – is diversifying your backlink profile as much as you can.

Refer to the post when I made a bold statement by saying "Facebook on the rise Google slipping its grip". At that time many readers did not
agree with me. But from the date of posting that topic, Google has continuously
loosen battle to Facebook. And it realized quickly that some real steps needs
to be taken to stop Facebook avalanche. And it did actually; with a weapon
called Google plus (G+). Now G+ is open in public, the war between Google and Facebook
is completely explicit. But is there any real reason for Facebook to worry
about G+?
There are variety of differences. First of all when Google released (rather 'Experimented') social network like Google Plus its popularity on the internet was not challenged. Google knew if the 'experiment' fails then also it would still be the biggest power on internet. Now do a quick time machine journey to come back to present. For last couple of years, the Facebook has eaten up the dominance of Google in several parts around the world. And it is threatening Google in some major countries in North America and West Europe. Also Facebook made it clear that it would like to enter the search market as well, by joining with another Google rival Bing.
Now that is quite threatening for company like Google, whose primary internet business is search market. Google did not pay much attention when Yahoo and Bing joined hand or when Baidu made strategic search relationship with Bing. But when Facebook, the major rival wished to enter the search market, Google sensed danger. So it planned to hit Facebook on its arsenal i.e. social network. Also Google is experienced enough to recognize the future trend of search market, which is slowly but steadily moving towards social search. So for Google, it was almost necessary to step big foot on this market. Also the stage was almost set for Google plus. Why?
Because Google was aware that many facebook users were complaining about the changes that were made recently, be it miserable Chatting experience or latest makeover. Google was silently watching all these and was planning the perfect launching pad. And Google plus indeed was the perfect launching pad for Google. You will see that all the pitfalls of Facebook was taken into account in Google+. So now it is time for only the real internet battle for dominance. And we must enjoy it all the way from starts and until it finishes (though I have doubt if it will end or not). So here we go..
I would given different answer, if I myself was not a G+ users. But answer to that one of the most asked question today is 'Yes'; Facebook need to worry about the G+ rapid advancement. You may say, Google previously tried several social networks like Google Buzz that failed enormously, what is different with G+?

On June 27th, the webmasters around the world has witnessed one of most buzzing "PageRank Update" in recent history. Some highlights of this interesting update were -
PR of Google itself- which is down to 9 from 10.
And a custom blogspot blogger getting PR 8 from 0.
These two facts are enough to assume that Google may have implemented major change in its Pagerank algorithm. And after nearly 15 days of mini research and surveys, I have no doubt declaring - 'Yes Google's PageRank algorithm update is reality.' It may have hit some webmasters badly. But in order to make yourself acquainted with new Pagerank algorithm, you need to know the whole thing again.
Why this Change?
Before you get to know the latest pagerank algorithm, you should know the exact reasons why Google has gone through such robust changes in its Pagerank algorithm.
You can say Google was caught in its own trap! How?
You know that some years back Google invented the 'nofollow' attribute for comment spamming. Though By implementing 'nofollow' attribute, the issue of comment spamming was controlled to some extent, but there was developing another bigger problem. That was directly connected to the Google's unique search algorithm. The main problem, Google was facing natural referencing often got the 'nofollow' attribute, which Google never expected.
To adjust yourself with the new PR algorithm, you should concentrate on these six tips-
1)Nofollow attribute: Nofollow links has come with a bang. As a result of this unexpected change, links with nofollow attribute can not be overlooked now. Some websites, with only nofollow backlinks has got a PR rise after this update, which only strengthen my view.
2)In content Dofollow: Though it still have value, but it priority has been lowered as Google is noticing 'In-content Dofollow link' trading is only increasing.
3)Directory links: Some gurus are making rubbish statement by saying Directory links are no longer important. But that are only applicable for low quality directories. Directory like Dmoz will always have its value.
4)Social Backlinks: Though social links comes with natural 'nofollow', it has its effect on PR. So never ignore facebook, twitter, linkedin backlinks.
5)Forum Links: Due to dofollow forum signature spamming, Google has lowered the value of links, which you get from forum signature.
6)Inner navigation: Your URL structure and navigation of your website also will have more effect on PR from now on. So make sure your website's URLs are crawl-able and search engine friendly.
I hope these tips will help you to understand the Google's new Pagerank algorithm. I have just briefed the major points here for a quick overview.
